Care Frequently Asked Questions
What can I bring with me to Bethesda?
Space in your new room is limited but residents are welcome to bring their own televisions (up to 40"). Bring your favourite chair or smaller items of furniture too, as well as some of your favourite photos and art to hang on the walls.
Can I bring electric appliances?
If you have anything like electric clocks or electric blankets, our maintenance staff may need to check that they are safe to operate. There is no need to bring any kitchen appliances.
Can I transfer my Auckland home phone number?
Every room has a phone connection
Can I have SkyTV?
Yes. A separate Sky decoder can be installed in your room. SkyTV invoices you for the individual package you select.
Is there WiFi for residents?
Yes, we have a high speed unlimited plan available for residents at a very reasonable monthly charge.
Is my laundry done for me?
Yes, we have our own commercial laundry on site and our staff do all the laundry for you. There is a laundry room for residents use as well. Clothing will need to be labelled with your name.
Safety, security and extra services
What security measures do you have?
The entire care home has smoke detectors and sprinkler systems to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors. At night gates lock automatically to restrict access to the property.
Are there nurses on site?
Yes, there are Registered Nurses at Bethesda 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Do you have a doctor?
Our doctor visits at least twice per week and other times as necessary.
Do you have a secure dementia unit?
Do we have regular outings for residents?
Yes. Our Occupational Therapists encourage residents to go on these outings.
How many residents are at Bethesda?
Bethesda has a maximum of 72 residents.
Do you have a hairdresser on site?
Yes, our hairdresser is onsite twice per week.
What are the visiting hours?
Our normal visiting hours are between 7:30am and 7:30pm.
What hours are reception and shop open?
Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 5:30pm.
